Christmas is one of my favorite holidays, but I don't really feel "in the spirit" this year... So I'm going to answer some of these questions about the holiday on here just to see if I can add a little holly jolly to my holiday!

What is your favorite Christmas movie?

I hadn't even heard of this movie until my husband showed it to me, but I now LOVE Jingle All The Way. It is so funny! Old Arnold is great, but even more so than him, I loved seeing Phil Hartman.

What's the oddest gift you've ever recieved?

What is your favorite Christmas treat?

An entire boxset of Amish romance novels from my husband's Menonite granma... I didn't even know things like this existed!

I love potato candies, but I haven't had them since my grandma died years ago. I tried making them myself and it turned out disastrously. I also love puppy chow and will eat an entire bag if it's given to me. And thanks to my husband I now love krumkake filled with lingonberry cream.

What is your favorite Christmas memory?

One year for Christmas when I was younger I got a Nintendo Gamecube with Super Mario Sunshine, Enya's album "A Day Without Rain", and this book by Mary Downing Hahn - "Look For Me By Moonlight" about a girl and a vampire. I still remember the smell of it, and now whenever I smell books I think of this book and I hear "Tempus Vernum" playing in the background and I can picture myself sitting on a blanket in the floor by the tree with my (now dead) cat and my little sister who was a baby at the time.

What are some things you would like to do for Christmas?

Riding a carriage pulled by horses would be fun, but I would only want to do it if I was riding through a snowy town! We have carriage rides where we live, but it ends the week before Christmas and it never snows this early here :(

What is your favorite Christmas ornament?

One day I would also like to stay in a cabin over the holiday for a staycation. Again, preferably somewhere where there's a lot of snow!

I would love to go to a really decorated, decked out Christmas party. I've been to a few company parties for Christmas, but nothing like what I've seen in movies...

I don't know about my favorite ornament, but I've been getting these Hallmark kitty ornaments for years. I love cats and I think these are cute, maybe one day I'll have an entire little tree full of them.

What do you want for Christmas this year?

There's not much I wanted at all, except to spend a happy holiday with my husband! He gets annoyed when I don't tell him gifts I want, but really, I couldn't think of much this year... My mom and sister will be coming to our place, so I hope that we eat good food and have a good time.

Favorite Thanksgiving Tradition

I actually don't have many (if any) Thanksgiving traditions. I do love to watch the parade (but I missed it this year 😠) Another thing I forgot to watch was We're Back! A Dinosaur's Story. I say this is a Thanksgiving movie just because of the way the dinosaurs crash the parade.

Favorite Holiday Pie

Out of traditional pies - I prefer sweet potato.

Favorite Thanksgiving Dish

Homemade stuffing or cranberry sauce! With emphasis on the HOMEMADE. I cannot stand anything boxed or canned.

I'd be lying if I said I'd gone apple picking before. My college used to have a made-up holiday literally called Apple Day where we'd get woken up at 4am to go apple pick. I skipped it every year because damn that was too early for me in college, but now I wish I'd gone!

Sorry, I know this is a post about Thanksgiving, but I will always prefer Halloween (& kinda wish Halloween was just a month long celebration and we just skip Thanksgiving).

ハンギョドン

Hangyodon is my absolute favorite Sanrio character!

Hangyodon is friends with Sayuri the octopus, Otamaro the tadpole, and Itaro the squid. He also had a girlfriend named Kingyochan. Hangyodon was bad at the goldfish catching game at the carnival, and the man running the booth felt bad for him, so he gave him a goldfish for free. This goldfish fell in love with Hangyodon and transformed into Kingyochan! Sadly, the magic only lasted three days, then she became a regular goldfish again. Hangyodon never knew what happened to his girlfriend.

Hangyodon is a lonely soul and a true romantic. His dream is to make everyone laugh at his jokes.

He has a family that consists of his mom, dad, an older brother (all of them unnamed), and a younger sister named Sumire, who, instead of being half-fish like Hangyodon, is a salamander.

The design of his face was based off of the creator's - Hisato Inoue.

Not only do they share similar faces, but they share the same blood type as well! Inoue-san loves to frequent Sanrio events and sign autographs for fans. He collects merchandise of his own characters, and is a big fan of Stephen Chow, a Hong Kong based comedy film maker. This is probably what inspired Hangyodon being from China, and being into making people laugh. He is also a fan of Spongebob Squarepants, Moomin, and Snoopy.

He wants to be a hero, but he's not very good at it!

Hangyodon's favorite foods are cold noodles, ebisen (shrimp chips), and nabemono (hot pot).

His birthday is on "Pie Day" - 3.14, however, I am unsure as to whether he likes pie or not...

In some media he is a detective. Maybe since he wants to be a hero, this is his real job?

In the 2022 Sanrio Popularity Ranking Hangyodon shocked everyone by ranking 8th place! This is the first time he has ranked this high in 34 years!!

The first time I had even heard of Hangyodon was, coincidentally, when I was living in his home country of China. At McDonalds they were selling Sanrio plushies of Hello Kitty dressed up like other Sanrio characters. I saw the one of her dressed like a fish and I HAD to have it. This was how I learned of Hangyodon's existence!
